Tabloid - An informal type of newspaper - colourful and simple font - containing coloured pictures too. Targets the working class, soft news.
Broadsheet - A form of newspaper using black and white, a specific font that attracts an older audience's eye and striking headlines, with not much colour. Centres around political news and current affairs, hard news.
Hard news - Formal news, news more prevalent within broadsheet newspapers that revolves around more alarming news about significant events affecting our society and our world. Instant news.
Soft news - Informal news, news in tabloid newspapers - things like celebrity gossip and maybe positive news, much more about culture.
House style - A company's preferred manner of presentation and layout of written material. Always used across their same edition to be easily recognisable.

Synergy - Two or more companies working together to produce a product that they ultimately could not have done without one another.
Passive audience - When the audience do not take in account any information from the media they consume (watch, read, hear, etc) or actively think about what they are seeing or engage at all.
Active audience - When the audience taken account some kind of information from what they are seeing and think about it and engage. They are able to have their own opinion and interpret from the media text.
PSB - Public Service Broadcasting. Funded 75% by the public by their TV licence. The other 25% comes from publications from things such as the radio times or merchandise. Does not have any product placement, no adverts, no sponsorship. Must reflect the diversity of Britain, have high quality and distinctive traits. This applies mainly to the BBC.
